"Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura wanted to print as many books as possible and distribute them all over the world. We have tried our best in this connection, and we are getting results beyond our expectations."
Caitanya-caritamrta Adi-lila 12.8 Purport
Please accept my humble obeissances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
First, please excuse my English as French is my first language.
As far as I can tell by the result, the book changes didn't bring more devotees than what we had in the earlier days. I don't think any one can be on a platform to decide that Srila Prabhupada was wrong in words or action. He read his own books so many times and never changed them.
Srila Prabhupada enunciated the principle of 'Arsha Prayog', that not one word of the acarya's books should be changed after his departure. He said that this was to be observed as a matter of respect for the acarya.
I wrote a short article entitled, "Bhagavad Gita As It Is - Please" about eight or nine years ago to this effect. Someone might still have a copy of it. I also wrote a letter on this subject to Jay Adwaita Swami about three years ago. I still feel the same way about this matter.
Simply wonderful presentation. Thank you for making such a strong case for and on behalf of Shrila Prabhupada.
I have not scrutinisingly studied the issue but commonsense dictates that except for typographical mistakes such as "planet of the trees," no editions and subtractions should be done from 1972 edition.
